Quick reference

The Nine Rounds: Jamaican Kalooki Contracts

A game of Jakalooki™ runs nine rounds. Each round sets a contract — the exact combination of sets and runs you have to put down before you can play on.

What counts as a set

Three or more cards of the same rank.

What counts as a run

Four or more cards in sequence, in the same suit.

A run needs four cards, not three. If you’ve played other rummy games, this is the one that catches you out. A run holds only one Ace.

Jokers are wild — see Jokers are wild on the How to Play page for how they work in a set or a run.

The Ace sits at one end

A run can start with an Ace or finish with one — never both. A run can’t turn the corner.
